You don't expect that your very first guitar will be a world class instrument. Why use such wood then? Save it for later and use B-grade material for the first steps into guitarbuilding.
You can even use 2mm-thick Finnish birch or airplane plywood, which is resin-bond and water resistant, for back and sides. Many good sounding instruments in music stores have plywood backs or sides.
